How to Avoid an SEO Horror Story on Your Website

The following was the second interview I did with Dr. Ralph Wilson of Web Marketing Today while I was at PubCon Las Vegas. In this interview we discussed the horror stories I have seen over my 10 years of SEO. The focus was on how important it is to involve an SEO in the initial planning of a new website because you never know if you are going to use a technology that may hamper or completely block search engines. A SEO consultant doesn’t need much time to tell you if you are on the right track and it will save you a lot of headache down the line.

Without further adieu, here is my interview:

I found a similar experience when I had been told to work for a client. Client had spends 1000’s of $ for getting their website at top of search engines and actually their previous seo consultant did it but the problem was all those keywords does not have any competition at all.

You know how easy it is to get a rank for a keyword which does not have much competition.

So I had to start from beginning and I researched some keywords in the competitive market, which are easy to convert into sales are very much targeted and have decent search volumes.

When I suggest those keywords, at initial stage company was not ready to agree with me that these keywords will work because they are competitive keywords but I convinced them to stay with my decision and trust me. It was hard for them because they have to start from beginning again.

Later they found that even though there is very less search volume for these keywords they did the better job.

Company got ROI increased by 15% in span of next 3 months.

So what I need to stress here is that when ever any business start marketing via online (specifically search engine marketing and search engine optimization), they must hire a seo for consultation because those people are experts and they help us to being from off-track from our achievable goals.
