Blogging is like an online cocktail party where you meet people, ask and answer questions, chat and discuss what is important to you and your site.

Some of our clients query whether Blogging is a valuable source of advertising and the answer is, absolutely. What does it do? It provides valuable inbound links and gets your site branded.

The question too is ‘What should I write about and how often’. Talk about what is relevant to your site. For example one of our clients, a hotel site, is running a contest which is enticing people to view their site which results in them talking about this to other people on their social network which equals more inbound links to their site. They are also very much involved in charity events which are discussed as well as the fun things staff do in their spare time.

Ideally blogging should be done, at minimum, on a weekly basis. It is also important that blogging is fun, informative and enticing to keep readership. According to a study done by HubSpot, ‘Companies that blog have far better marketing results.’ The data states the average company that blogs has:

  • 55% more visitors
  • 97% more inbound links, and
  • 434% more indexed pages

Once the post is written, publish the post to your blog then spread the word using various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Yelp and Squidoo.
